Charlene White, the British Journalist and presenter who has just made headlines not for her new piece of work, but for what she said about marriage.
Since 2015, the Loose Women star has been dating her boyfriend, Andy Woodfield, with whom she has two children, Alfie and Florence.
Many fans and co-workers wondered whether the couple is planning to get married soon, however, Charlene said that marriage is not an issue for them.
During the course of lesson plan three, I was able to talk to Charlene and hear her perceptions of marriage.
She said that she and Andy are as close as two people can be without getting married to prove it. “I’m fine with that, aren’t we?” she said implying that they are okay just the way they are in their relationship.
For Charlene these are the things that matter in a relationship not the grand wedding ceremony they both don’t need.
They cited one unselfish pragmatic live-in partner’s reasons why: The costs that are associated with weddings.
Charlene White jokingly pointed out that since they have a large family, hosting a wedding would be a tad expensive.
“Family members!” she joked, “I am the only child with a family of a billion.” Even if I wanted to do it and believe me it is an expensive day! ”
This viewpoint presents many couples with today’s world whose weddings look more like major expenses rather than significant events.
When some of her fellow panellists on Loose Women have expressed their surprise at her not having married, Charlene could not be bothered.
She has set a routine in her relationship with Andy and has acceptable practices other than normal family practices in meeting family needs.
“It kind of works for us,” she said that they concentrate on nurturing their children and living for life without any compulsory following of societal norms.
Charlene’s position illustrates a wider trend of couples opting to cohabit and raise families without marriage.
To Charlene White and Andy, this allows them to value and get to cultivate their togetherness while having independence.
Loved for her humour and no-nonsense approach, Charlene White’s decision to use the money for her and her family reminds some Loose Women viewers of themselves.
Through articulating her opinion on marriage or its lack she enters important conversations about modern relationships and the nature of unions today.
Being a mother and a wife currently engaged in broadcasting, Charlene can be best described as women who come across traditional domains.
There is no reason here to believe that Charlene White wants to change something and give the relationship another chance she is comfortable with being single.
Owning her life without sticking to traditional norms and values of partnership yet being caring and committed she reflects views of many women today.
As of this writing, Charlene continues to inspire in her professional, personal and public life: balancing a successful career, co-parenting her children with Andy, and passionately advocating for modern relationships in media and social forums.
