Ruby Fox-Milligan was engulfed in guilt and inner conflict at the thought of losing Caleb. She was tormented by her conscience, because of her secret affair and secrets kept. The whole truth would not be known by Caleb Milligan if he did not wake up and she was tormented with guilt. At the same time, the burden of concealing these secrets from the rest of the family increased as did her emotional tension. As the atmosphere became strained, Ruby fought to decide if she should hold her tongue and bear the burden of her past or speak out.
The Revelation of Ruby’s Affair
The revelations of Ruby Fox-Milligan’s previous infidelity with Cain Dingle during a tricky period in both their life have caused a lot of family unrest. Sour ties, especially between Cain and his wife Moira and Ruby and her husband Caleb Milligan has been this discovery. Nicky Miligan’s sense of manipulation and treachery was revealed through his confessions of shoving his father, Caleb, into a ravine. With a heavy heart, Nicky told Caleb his actions and he tells his son, though it is more serious, to try and keep his son safe by lying to the authorities that he fell accidentally. This is something that other members of the family struggled with the reality and the moral repercussions of hiding such a huge tragedy, however stopping Nicky from legal consequences only added already existing family conflicts.
Caleb Milligan’s coma-ridden family is ripping at a breaking point, unable to resolve their conflicts and secret facts. Broken trust and damaged relationships make fresh problems out of every disclosure. Strong emotions and past betrayals make family members from the Milligan, and Dingle sides choose to find common ground and mend, or to separate into groups that will never repair their brokenness.
