Classic Cars of Late Businessman Dean Kronsbein to Be Auctioned for £2.3 Million

Eight cars from the late Dean Kronsbein businessman’s collection of automobiles will be sold on November 1-2, 2024, at RM Sotheby’s in London. Estimated at £2. 3 million, it has British premium cars from Bentley, Rolls-Royce and Land Rover cars.

The Wye Valley businessman and the founder of Ultrafilter Medical Dean Kronsbein passed away in a yachting accident in Sardinia in July 2022. He has a loving interest in classic British cars and throughout a twenty year period, built up a collection carefully.

The auction will take place at The Peninsula London Hotel during the Royal Automobile Club’s London Motor Week celebration of classic motoring.

Among other outstanding lots, a star of the auction is a 1958 S1 Continental Drophead Coupé by Park Ward with the estimate of £ 750,000 – £ 950,000. This model has an interesting history, for it was purchased with Weybridge Automobiles Ltd for KJ Smit & Sons Ltd, an industrial diamond firm.

The car has been restored completely and before it was auctioned at RM Sotheby’s Passion For Elegance sale in Liechtenstein in 2021 for more than £ 1 million.

Another car in the collection is a 1947 Bentley MkVI Cabriolet, a very stylish car estimated to cost up to £350,000. This specific model is characterized by its individual parameters and relative antiquity for Bentley. Also, there is a 1952 MkVI Drophead Foursome Coupé that was ordered for Queen Elizabeth II ‘s coronation and it should sell for anything between £275,000 and £325,000.

This collection includes two models of Land Rover, and Ford Army jeep of 1942 with the trailer, which cost around £ 36,800. This military vehicle comes with several accessories of the army and has been used since it was displayed in one of the world’s biggest Ford collections.

This auction is expected to attract the attention of the existing as well as the potential collectors since every car has a rich history behind it. This is a collection of luxury and workmanship by Kronsbein, giving life to, and telling the story of cars.

This makes the auction more interesting when investigating Kronsbein’s death. Two of the skippers are facing manslaughter charges as Italian authorities investigate rules governing maritime accidents.
