On August the 5th 2024 the incident involved Jayvion Taylor, a 15 years old Hopewell High School football player on the junior varsity team who would die from heat stroke during practice.

The team was engaged in about 40 min of light drills and was heading back from a water break when Jayvion crumpled to the ground about 10 feet away from a coach.

Coaches immediately gave first aid including cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the arrival of an ambulance, which arrived shortly after the 911 call was made.

Nevertheless, efforts as such were made only for Jayvion to be later declared dead at the HCA TriCities Hospital soon after he was admitted.
