American alpine Skiing legend Lindsey Vonn resumes the World Cup circuit On the 21 of December, 2024, at 40 years of age. Vonn had been participating in the World Cup event in Switzerland’s St. Moritz in the Super G race and it was her first event after retiring in February 2019. This comeback was launched after the skier took a five season break from competitive skiing mainly due to several knee operations.
Lindsey Vonn’s return to competitive skiing started with a statement in November 2024, that the Schilchter would race again.
In preparation for this important event, she took part in some FIS Cup-level races at Copper Mountain before December and was able to be part of the World Cup event. On the race day she was the number thirty-one and was the only non-seeded skier taking part in the trials on the Corviglia piste course.
In her return race, Lindsey Vonn completed the course in 1:16. 36 which made them qualify for the 14 th position overall. She only came 1. 18 seconds short of the winner, Cornelia Hütter of Austria. There were numerous beneficial aspects to the run with many obvious display of Vonn’s sustained ability and continuing edge.

Her comeback is not race based; Vonn has stated that she wants to compete in her fifth Olympics at Milano Cortina in 2026. This is an added incentive as she returns to competitive skiing. This season, she has a strategy on how to increase confidence levels and gradually increase the level of competition without exposing her to a lot of risk.
