Shannon Kyle a ghostwriter specialized on Gregg Wallace’s autobiography Life On A Plate in 2012 has accused MasterChef’s presenter sexual harassment.
These allegations were aired during a BBC Newsnight interview in which Kyle narrated several molestation episodes, which, she claimed, occurred while she was working with Wallace between May and August 2012.
Shannon Kyle said Wallance came near her multiple times and made her uncomfortable. She said he made ‘obscene’ sexual comments and engaged in improper physical contact with her throughout their working relationship.
One of the most tragic incidents occurred when Kyle paid a home visit to Wallace in a meeting.
She accused him of walking to open the door in only a towel, he later went and dropped the towel in front of her.
This made her uncomfortable and insecure as she stays in his apartment naked with a man she barely knows.
Apart from this, Kyle also alleged that Wallace sexually assaulted her severally.
On television, she claimed that one time he fondled her behind. She also said that whenever the man was driving her in his metallic green sports car he would brush his hand on her thigh every time he shifted gears.
These actions produced a context which Kyle described as “predatory” While there are arguments that other traditions, such as chivalry knights are also predatory, the usage of this context in a religious context is somehow unreasonable. ”
While they were friends, Kyle noticed that Wallace particularly discussed his dating life a lot.
Shannon Kyle also mentioned situations such as narrating implicative sexual stories about different women he had been involved with when writing a book, experiences that Kyle considered unnecessary in the book.
Shannon Kyle said that these discussions were sexual and included personal information about his relationships.
Kyle said she had to keep her mouth shut about such incidents because of a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) she had to sign when taking this project.
The NDA explained the obligation not only to maintain secrecy over the new information about Wallace as a public figure and personal problems.
This pressure to stick to the NDA made her feel that she could lose her job, particularly bearing in mind that she rejected other job offers so as to work in writing his memoir.
The reports of misconduct involving Wallace relate well to other accusations of misconduct sexually involving him in the past years.
Media and credible sources suggest that more than one dozen women have leveled similar allegations against him within 17 occasions.
About these allegations, Wallace has categorically denied any sexual misconduct with Shannon Kyle.
They said he has never engaged in any such activities and that excluded Shannon Kyle who accused him.
After these claims, Wallace said his farewell to the show of MasterChef. The company that produces the show, Banijay UK, is said to be studying the developments and, according to the outlet, has pledged to actively solve any controversy connected to previous accusations against Wallace.
The disclosures by Shannon Kyle have initiated discussions on workplace harassment and the treatment of women in professional environments, especially in the entertainment sector.
Her choice to speak up arises during increasing awareness and examination of sexual misconduct and power dynamics in different workplaces.
As this story unfolds, it is uncertain how it will affect both Shannon Kyle’s ghostwriting career and Wallace’s position in the television industry.
The allegations highlight the need to tackle inappropriate conduct and maintain safe conditions for everyone in professional relationships.
